Fundamentals of Technology
Course Number: 8169 (OHLAP Approved)
Pre-requisite: None
Length: 2 Semesters
Objective: This course will provide students with the fundamental concepts, principles, and ideas needed to understand how business is operated and managed in a rapidly changing global environment, which is needed for success in careers in business related fields. This course also provides job readiness skills and soft skills that are critical for success in any workplace setting.
ALL assignments, projects, tests, and quizzes will be posted on Moodle.
Grading:
Each student’s grade will be figured on total number of points. Points will come from the following areas:
o Projects – 100 to 200 points (depending on project)
o Tests – 100 points
o Quizzes – 50 points
o Participation – 25 points
o Daily Work – 25 points
o Workplace Skills - 25 points - Each student will receive a weekly workplace skills grade. Students will earn 25 points by coming to class on time, following directions, using computers and other technology applications correctly and effectively, teamwork, proper communication, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

General Rules:
o All students will abide by the rules set forth in the student handbook – KNOW THE RULES!
o Bring all necessary tools to class with you.
o Be in your chair and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.
o No lining up at the door at the end of class.
o Be courteous and respectful of everyone in the classroom. This includes teachers,
guests, students, and the property of others.
BPA
All students will have the opportunity to join Business Professionals of America. This is a national organization for high school students who are enrolled in a vocational business course. Through this organization students will be given the opportunity to participate in numerous school and community wide activities that promote leadership and development of business skills. Members will also be given the opportunity to attend state and national conferences. The dues are $20.
