Multimedia & Image Management
Course Number: 8150 (OHLAP Approved)
Pre-requisite: None
Length: 2 Semesters
Course Description : Students will acquire fundamental skills in image creation and management procedures and techniques as they create, revise, optimize, and export graphics for video, print, and web publishing.
Specific Learning Competencies:
1. Identify differences in platforms, browsers, display settings, etc., and related issues.
2. Use scanning software and scanning devices to properly scan reflective and transparent mediums.
3. Demonstrate basic design procedures using photo-editing software that include photo enhancement, correction, restoration, and manipulation.
4. Understand and employ design and color principles while creating visually appealing graphic images.
5. Manipulate, troubleshoot, compress, publish and export graphics and/or animations.
6. Apply appropriate techniques for web and print publishing.
7. Demonstrate sensitivity in communicating with a diverse workforce.
8. Understand legal and ethical issues in the IT field.
9. Prepare visual design specifications and evaluate visual appeal.
10. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of digital imaging techniques and equipment.
11. Select and utilize appropriate software and hardware tools.
12. Produce or acquire graphics, animation, audio, and/or video content.
13. If using Adobe Photoshop for image editing, apply the following features appropriately: color, efficiency and automation, file management, filters and effects, image properties, layers, masks and channels, text tools, and user interface.
14. Create and manipulate original digital images using the features of vector graphics software.
15. If using Adobe Illustrator for vector graphics, apply the following software features appropriately: automation and customization, compiling objects, interaction with web and other applications, type tools, color, objects and shapes, interface, and enhancing artwork.
ALL assignments, projects, tests, and quizzes will be posted on Moodle.
Grading:
Each student’s grade will be figured on total number of points. Points will come from the following areas:
o Projects – 100 to 200 points (depending on project)
o Tests – 100 points
o Quizzes – 50 points
o Participation – 25 points
o Daily Work – 25 points
o Workplace Skills - 25 points - Each student will receive a weekly workplace skills grade. Students will earn 25 points by coming to class on time, following directions, using computers and other technology applications correctly and effectively, teamwork, proper communication, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

General Rules:
o All students will abide by the rules set forth in the student handbook – KNOW THE RULES!
o Bring all necessary tools to class with you.
o Be in your chair and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.
o No lining up at the door at the end of class.
o Be courteous and respectful of everyone in the classroom. This includes teachers,
guests, students, and the property of others.
BPA
All students will have the opportunity to join Business Professionals of America. This is a national organization for high school students who are enrolled in a vocational business course. Through this organization students will be given the opportunity to participate in numerous school and community wide activities that promote leadership and development of business skills. Members will also be given the opportunity to attend state and national conferences. The dues are $20.
