GUIDELINES FOR FOSTERING LANGUAGE
DEVELOPMENT IN CHILDREN

Parents are the models children
copy. As such you are teaching your
child to talk. Almost everything you do
or say is interpreted in some way. Being
a good model will help your child “learn it right” the first time.

Associate speech and language with
satisfying experiences.

Try to look at your child when he talks
to you.

Talk with your child not at him.

Set aside a special time to listen and
talk with your child.
