ChemLab #22 - Water Vapor In Air (Humidity)
Date of Lab:   Score:
Lab Group Members:   This is a CLASS long-term observation.
The Lab Problem: Observe how the humidity in the atmosphere changes over a two week period.
Research References:   Lab Key
Experimental Design Observations
Equipment List:
600 ml beaker, thermometer, tap water and ice (fill red cup with ice from cafeteria).
Procedure: (responsibility will be rotated daily between pairs of students)
  1. Record the room temperature.

  2. Add about 300 ml of tap water to the beaker.

  3. Place the thermometer in the water.

  4. Slowly add ice to the water.

  5. Observe the outside of the beaker and record the water temperature at which condensation is first observed.

  6. Record the official humidity from this Website

  7. Return "dry" materials to equipment tray.

  8. Repeat this every class day for two weeks.

  9. (Individually) At the end of the observation period, use "Numbers" to graph the data collected on your laptop. (Show Mr. Askew this graph on your computer screen for your lab grade.)
