This is a microlab. Put a SMALL amount of your solution in a chemplate well for each of the first five tests.

Unknown solution # __________

  1. Test your solution with a strip of red litmus paper.

  2. Test your solution with a strip of blue litmus paper.

  3. Test your solution with a strip of hydron paper.

  4. Test your solution with a drop of phenolphthlele.

  5. Test your solution with a drop of methylene blue.

  6. Test the remainder of your solution in the beaker with a ph meter.

Analysis and Conclusion: Is your solution an acid or a base?   _________________
