You are a writer for a large publishing company. Your boss has come to you with a project.

A genetics company has developed an advertising plan to introduce a new product, but their research has found that many people do not understand genetics well enough to recognize the benefit of this new product. They want a poem that will describe some concept of genetics in a fun and educational way.

Your poem will be used on the package of the new product. Write the poem and print it on a piece of paper giving your boss some idea of how the poem would look on the package.

This project will give you an opportunity to show how much you know about genetics, creative writting, and page design using Microsoft Word.

Your poem should teach some genetic concept in a fun way that will help the audience remember the concept. You will read the poem to the class and it will be posted on the Howe School Webpage.

Your final product will be a poem that fits on one typed page. Use fonts, borders, and or graphics that will make the poem eye-catching as well as informative.

Choose any genetics concept from the biology curriculum. You will be asked to state the genetics concept your poem represents and to identify the type of poem that you have written; such as rhyme, limerick, haiku, etc.

This is an individual project with most of the work done outside of class. You will be given no more than half a class period to polish and print your poem. All of your other work on the project must be done outside of class.
