This analytic rubric is used to verify that specific tasks have been performed. If a task has been successfully completed, all points are awarded. No points are awarded if a task is not complete. Awarding partial points is not an option.

Organization 30 points	Poster is organized in vertical columns. (Sufficient space between columns leaves no doubt about where one column ends and another begins.)	10
	Sequence of the presentation is easy to follow using visual clues provided. (Clues may include numbers, letters or arrows.)	10
	Text is simple and large enough to be read from a minimum of four feet away. (A standard, easy to read text is used. Both capital and small-case letters are used.)	10
Presentation 40 points	Graphics dominate the poster visually with text playing a support role. (Use graphics, cartoons, and figures when possible.)	10
	Relative importance of poster elements is graphically communicated. (More important information is presented with larger graphics or text.)	10
	Color is used to emphisize or link words and images. (Color changes serve a purpose.)	10
	Artistic elements of the poster are subtle and do not distract from the message of the poster. (Scientific posters present information clearly.)	10
Report of Research 30 points	The research subject is well covered on the poster. (Details indicate the topic was sufficiently researched and quality information is presented.)	10
	Information is presented in a bold and explicit manner. (Title is explicit, communicating project purpose. Conclusion provides interpretations, not just repeats results.)	10

Score	Total Points	100
Self-evaluation	Students are expected to honestly evaluate their own work. If the difference between the student evaluation and the teacher evaluation is more than 10 points, 5 points will be deducted from the teacher's score when the grade is recorded.
Deadline	All "turn-in" assignments are expected to be completed by the assigned deadline. Posters will be accepted up to two days after the deadline for 3/4 credit. No credit after that time.
