Indian Relocation:
- Cherokee's ancestral lands capital in Georgia - New Echota
- Gold was found in Georgia which would eventualy get the Cherokee's removed from their ancestral lands.
- Samuel Worcester
- Cherokee Missionary who did religious work to help the Cherokee Indians.
- Samuel was placed in prison for not signing a loyalty oath to the state of Georgia.
- Worcester vs Georgia
- Supreme court case in which the Cherokees fought versus the state of Georgia for their rights.
- Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Cherokee.
- Andrew Jackson
- In response to the Supreme Court's decision, he was quoted as saying "let them enforce it!"
- These signed treaty of Cherokee lands:
- Eastern Band of Cherokee
- Occupation - Farmers and Merchants
- Seminole
- The Seminole Indian were the hardest of the 5 Civilized Tribes to be removed.
- Also most costly!
- Wool clothing - Heat!
- Osceolo - Seminole Chief who fought hard against removal.
